What’s “this” blog about?
Learning, Livin’, and Loving in the South
When I envisioned Huckleberry Scout as a blog and online publishing space, I thought about the things I like to write about. That’s when I came up with the three “Ls.” I think these topics sound about right. But I’m sure other ideas will percolate up too.
Learning. “I’m infernally curious” is a line I’ve used a several job interviews. It’s true. I love asking “why,” “why” and “why” again. I love exploring and seeking out new things. Or really trying get at why I love some things just the way they are forever and ever. Reading, listening to podcasts, picking up jewels of knowledge from friends and their children…it’s all a part of learning.
Livin’. “You just gotta keep living, man. L*I*V*I*N.” Matthew McConaughey as Wooderson said it best. Whether its travel or listening to music, finding and enjoying the next perfect bite or feeling the thrum of a 2nd line all the way down to your soul…LIVIN.
Loving. Love is synonymous to me with Faith and Hope, though as Paul said to the Corinthians, “the greatest is love.” I just don’t see how you separate the three. You have to faith that love will sustain and hope that love will be sufficient to overcome the many challenges life throws our way. After 17 years of marriage and 12 years of parenting, I rely on all three. And on this I do agree with Paul - the greatest is Love.
